Reflection

I have enjoyed the process of creating a one minute video that communicates the theme of inequality. Although this was the first time I have used Adobe Premiere Pro I found it relatively uncomplicated to use, with the workshops being greatly helpful. I am happy with the final version of my product as I feel that it successfully meets the brief and showcases the skills I have acquired throughout this process in regards to editing, such as framing and colour adjustment.

Evaluation

My final video meets the criteria of the brief as I have produced a 1 minute video that communicates the theme of inequality using only copyright free still images and music, that may initially seem unrelated but come together to establish a message. The beginning of the video features images of professions that end in the word ‘Man’, such as Fireman or Postman, as I felt this emphasised gender inequality in the workplace. As well as this, I have framed these images so that they adhere to the rule of thirds and this therefore creates a sharp finish to the video. In addition to this, after feedback, I adjusted the framing in order to hide the black borders existent on some of the images, which allows for a uniform feel to the video and a consistent flow to the narrative. However, if I was to re-do this task, I would spend a lot longer on the image selection process. As I have used a lot of images, I would need more time so that I could find images that were more uniform in terms of resolution, framing and themes. This give my video a better flow and moe polished finish.

By developing from slow pace editing and transitions to quick pace editing with no transitions, the images of females are really emphasised and with conjunction with the increased pace in the music, connotations of strength and power is generated. This is emphasised by the penultimate low angle image of a business woman (screen grab of completed edit).
